City of Moreton Bay is working to upgrade Caboolture River Road at Morayfield, between Morayfield Road and Grant Road to cater to growing and future travel demands. The project includes funding from the Queensland Government and City of Moreton Bay and forms part of the Growth Area Compact, a commitment under the SEQ City Deal.
The key features of the Caboolture River Road Project include:
widening Caboolture River Road between Grant Road and Morayfield Road to provide two traffic lanes in each direction (four lanes in total) with a central median.
installing additional traffic turning lanes at key intersections.
installing new traffic lights at the intersection of Amy and Kenneth Streets.
upgrading the existing traffic lights at Grant Road and Morayfield Road.
changing access at Ben Street and Lorebury Drive to left in/left out only.
installing new cycling and pedestrian paths on both sides of the road.
Road construction work is expected to start late 2026 and be completed in 2028.
What works will occur during the coming months?
Service relocation works will continue intermittently along the project zone during the remainder of 2026, ahead of the start of road construction. Specifically, Telstra and Torus Networks are expected to start relocating their communications infrastructure from July/August 2026. The duration of this necessary work is anticipated to be around four months.
Their activities will generally be conducted during the day; however, some nightworks will be required due to safety considerations. Telstra and Torus Networks will contact property owners and/or tenants directly regarding any access or service delivery matters. Works are being planned to minimise impacts to residents and businesses.
Road users and pedestrians are requested to observe the instructions of work crews and all signage. City of Moreton Bay appreciates your cooperation while this important work is completed.

Activities included:
construction of the improved car park and student drop-off facility at Morayfield State School
the removal of selected trees and vegetation along the alignment
removal of a building on the southern corner of William Berry Drive and Morayfield Road
These works were necessary to prepare the road corridor for the much-anticipated improvements to this important east-west road connection. When completed, the project will benefit the broader transportation network, and provide added capacity and convenience that will benefit residents and business in Morayfield and surrounding communities.
