Our JP Booth is Open

Our JP Booth is open thanks to our amazing JP volunteers – a service kindly provided to the community for over 20 years.  The booth is now located outside NAB Bank. JP opening times can be viewed here.

THE MORAYFIELD JP GROUP – THE BACKSTORY
2023 marked the 20th anniversary of the JPs in the Community Program and the inception of the Morayfield JPs Group. Morayfield Shopping Centre is proud to have been one of the first three host shopping centre locations established in Queensland.

The original Centre JP site housed a table, one chair and dividing screens, and in 2010, Mark Ryan MP helped to secure a grant to build a custom-made booth from which the JP volunteers could operate. To celebrate the 20 years of invaluable service provided to the Centre and the local community by these committed volunteers, the Centre has undertaken a modernisation of the site.

The Morayfield JP Group currently has 22 active members, many of whom are long serving. They offer their services to other booths, the local courthouse, police stations, their place of work and even from their homes.

RAISING VITAL FUNDS FOR ANGEL FLIGHT AUSTRALIA
The Morayfield JP Group has also raised $100,000 in funds for Angel Flight Australia since 2010 through generous customer donations. We give thanks to our customers who have made an optional donation when using the services of our JPs.

THE LINDSAY BELL JP BOOTH
Lindsay Bell was a long-time advocate and pilot for Angel Flight Australia. He had his licence taken away due to hearing loss, but soon found ways to help the charity on the ground. He was what they call an Earth Angel. He would pick up those in need from the airfields and drive them where they needed to go.

When the JPs in the Community Program was initiated, Lindsay was already an active Justice of the Peace who quickly joined the Morayfield Group. Over the years he provided constant support to the Group who were short on funds and resources.

Lindsay also suggested that the Morayfield JP Group collect funds for donation to Angel Flight. The Group gained permission and the rest is history. The Morayfield JP Group has proudly raised $100,000 for Angel Flight since 2010, through the generosity of Morayfield Shopping Centre customers.

At the time just before his passing, having been the longest serving Morayfield JP Group Member, it was decided to dedicate the Morayfield JP Booth in Lindsay’s name.

We will continue to honour and celebrate Lindsay for his dedication and tireless service to our local community.
